African Black Soap

Information
                    African Black Soap

What it is~
African  Black Soap comes from Western Africa where most of its ingredients are  readily available.  Black Soap ranges from light to dark brown in color  depending on the region in which it is made and which ingredients are  available.

The soap can be molded and cut into any shape though in most West African markets it is found in a ball or round shape.

Black Soap has many names but the most common is “Ose Dudu”  which comes from the Yoruba language of Nigeria, Benin and Togo.  It  means “soap” (Ose) “black” (Dudu) and is commonly known as Alata Samina or Anago Samina among Ghanaians.

How it is made~
Dried  plantain and banana peels and leaves, Shea tree bark, Palm tree bark  and leaves and cocoa pods are first burnt in a large pot or kettle to
ashes.   Water is then added to the ashes and filtered.  Oils such as Shea  butter, Coconut oil, Palm Kernel oil and Cocoa Butter are then added to  this water to create the soap.  Herbs and age old formulations make the  difference in the resultant soap.  The soap is then hand stirred by  local women
for at least a day and then set out to cure for two  weeks.  Each region or tribe have their own recipe that has been handed  down through generations.

Ingredients~
Ashes  or powders of Plantain peel, Banana peel or Cocoa pods, water, oil or  mixture of Shea butter oil, Coconut oil, Palm Kernel oil and
or Cocoa Butter oil.

Uses~
You  can use this soap on your body, face, hair; it also makes a nice  shaving soap. Black Soap traditionally has been used to relieve rashes,  scalp irritations, softens rough skin, acne, blemishes and other minor  skin problems.  Black soap gives your face a deep cleansing, leaving it  fresh and healthier.  Also among the benefits are the treatments of  eczema, razor bumps and ringworm

Naasakle African Black Soap is  made from 100% natural ingredients using an age old special formulation  with the combination of Cocoa pod, Virgin Coconut oil and Shea butter or  Palm Kernel oil.  The resultant soap is a soft soap that cleans and  moisturizes the skin to give a clean healthy feel without chemicals,  additives or fillers.
